Carlson Ag is looking to hire a Farm Operational Lead in Wendell, MN. In this position, you'd oversee and execute operations across Carlson Ag Aviation (ag retail & application support) and Carlson Farms. This is a hands-on management role for someone who takes pride in running clean, efficient, well-organized operations and who wants a long-term opportunity with a growing agricultural business.
About Us:
Carlson Ag consists of Carlson Ag Aviation and Carlson Farms. Carlson Ag Aviation is a growing ag retail business that specializes in aerial applications, including spraying, seeding, and fertilizing. Carlson Farms is a 2,200-acre farm that produces sugar beets and corn. Both entities are owned and operated by Boone and Charity Carlson.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ag Retail & Application Operations
- Serve as Lead Ground Applicator and support commercial ground application operations.
- Act as Lead Aircraft Loader for aviation support operations, including training seasonal loaders.
- Assist with tendering, chemical handling, and warehouse operations.
- Uphold all safety, environmental, and operational standards while handling products and equipment.
- Farm Operations (Carlson Farms)
- Hands-on execution of all farm activities required for corn and sugar beet production, including planting, spraying, harvesting, tendering, and trucking.
- Operate tractors, sprayers, trucks, and support equipment.
- Train and oversee seasonal harvest employees, including truck drivers.
- Shop, Warehouse & Equipment Management
- Take ownership of organization and cleanliness in farm shop, warehouse, and equipment storage areas, promoting a well-organized, efficient work environment.
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance
- Operate, inspect, and maintain all equipment ensuring equipment is properly serviced and ready ahead of peak seasons.
Qualifications:
- Strong agricultural background with extensive hands-on experience.
- Broad experience across full farm operations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and maintenance experience.
- Demonstrated ability to keep shops, warehouses, and operations organized.
- Experience training and leading seasonal employees.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Willingness to work extended hours during peak seasons.
