Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly, compassionate, and dependable Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for pet owners and their beloved animals, providing exceptional customer service while managing the front desk operations of our busy veterinary hospital. This role requires excellent administrative and communication skills, and a passion for animal care, ensuring that pets and their owners feel welcomed and supported during their visits. Hours are Monday - Friday, 8 am - 12 pm and 1 pm - 5 pm; no weekends.
Duties
- Greet clients and their pets warmly upon arrival, creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
- Schedule appointments and manage the clinic’s calendar efficiently.
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries regarding services, procedures, and pet care.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including medical histories, vaccination details, and keeping filing up-to-date.
- Process payments and manage billing inquiries with careful attention to detail.
- Provide basic information on medication administration and pet care to clients.
- Support laboratory procedures by preparing samples for testing and mailing when required.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the reception area, waiting room, exam rooms, treatment area, surgery, and kennels, including laundry and restocking.
- Handle any client concerns professionally, escalating issues to management when necessary.
- Assisting veterinarians and other staff members, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a veterinary or animal care setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of basic veterinary practices is advantageous.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to empathize with pet owners in various situations is required.
- Must possess excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing records and appointments.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
- A passion for providing high-quality care to all clients and their companion animals.
