Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Fish Farm Manager to oversee daily operations of our aquaculture facility. This role involves managing fish health, maintaining equipment, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and optimizing production processes. Duties
- Oversee daily operations of the fish farm, including feeding, health monitoring, and habitat management
- Work closely with the Fish Farm Manger on Sales, deliveries, pick up and transport of fish.
- Conduct regular inspections of tanks, ponds, and equipment; perform maintenance and repairs as needed
- Collect and analyze data related to water quality, fish growth rates, and environmental conditions using GIS tools and data collection techniques
- Ensure compliance with local and federal environmental laws and regulations governing aquaculture practices
- Manage inventory of supplies such as feed, medications, and equipment parts
- Handle fish during dissection or veterinary procedures for health assessments
- Implement biosecurity protocols to prevent disease outbreaks
- Coordinate with staff on tasks such as heavy lifting of supplies or equipment and plumbing maintenance
- Maintain detailed records of farm activities, fish health status, and environmental data for reporting purposes
- Train staff on animal handling, safety procedures, and farm protocols
- Coordinate deliveries and sales of fish
Experience
- Proven experience in farming or aquaculture management with a focus on fish or aquatic animals
- Knowledge of environmental law related to aquaculture operations
- Familiarity with GIS technology for mapping and data analysis
- Experience in data collection methods relevant to water quality and animal health monitoring
- Strong animal handling skills including dissection and general animal care practices
- Mechanical knowledge related to farm equipment maintenance and plumbing systems
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for dosage measurements, data analysis, and record keeping
- Physical ability for heavy lifting and performing manual tasks in outdoor or wet environments
- Prior experience working within agricultural or aquaculture settings is highly desirable
This role is vital for ensuring the sustainable growth of our aquaculture operations while prioritizing animal welfare and environmental responsibility.
The operation is seasonal. However, there is an opportunity for relocation and year round housing to oversee off season operations as well.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
