Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, dentals and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment, and providing animal restraint.
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to support accurate diagnoses.
- Customer care activities include answering the phone, scheduling appointments, admitting and discharging patients, and processing payments.
- Handle animal restraint safely and effectively for procedures like injections, catheterizations, and X-ray positioning.
- Maintain detailed medical records, update patient files with treatment notes, vaccination history, and laboratory results.
- Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology, assisting with cleaning and polishing teeth, and monitoring anesthesia.
- Operate imaging equipment such as full body and dental X-ray machines to ensure high-quality diagnostic images.
- Provide pet care advice to clients on topics including nutrition, preventive care, and behavior issues .
Qualifications
- Proven kennel experience with a strong understanding of animal husbandry practices.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care procedures.
- Hands-on veterinary technician experience with skills in animal catheterization, restraint techniques, and laboratory testing.
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care environments and emergency response protocols.
- Experience handling dogs and other animals confidently using proper and fear free animal handling techniques.
- Ability to operate X-ray equipment safely.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and educate pet owners on pet care needs.
- Certification or training in veterinary technology is preferred but not required; a passion for continuous learning is essential.
