Yulong Stud is seeking a passionate and motivated Equine Veterinary Nurse to join our growing team at our thoroughbred farm located in Nagambie, Victoria.
The successful candidate will work closely with our Resident Veterinarians, veterinary nurses and our stud staff, assisting with a wide range of routine and specialised veterinary procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain additional experience or for a more experienced veterinary nurse wanting to further develop their skill set.
Key Responsibilities:
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Patient treatments including IVs, IM injections, catheter placement and bandage changes.
- Assisting the Resident Veterinarians with a variety of tasks and procedures.
- Basic laboratory procedures such as running bloods and plating cultures
- Maintenance of veterinary equipment.
- Ordering and stock control of medical supplies.
What We’re Looking For:
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (desirable but not essential).
- A self-starter who can work both independently and within a team.
- Strong work ethic with a positive, can-do attitude
- Demonstrated high level horse handling skills.
- Ability to perform basic physical examinations and initial triage of wounds and sick horses.
- Good communication skills and the ability to interact clearly with Veterinarians, stud staff and management.
- An enthusiastic team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft suite.
- Drivers licence and reliable vehicle.
