You’ll work closely with ownership, sales, operations, and seed production to ensure the financial side of the business is accurate, timely, and practical.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nIf you’ve worked in agriculture, seed, manufacturing, or another seasonal, inventory-heavy business — this role will feel familiar.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nIf you are looking to make an impact by optimizing financial processes and driving efficiency, we encourage you to apply!\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nAccounting Manager Responsibilities:\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nFinancial Management & Reporting:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tMaintain and update the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions.\r\n\tPrepare and analyze financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for management.\r\n\tReconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.\r\n\tProvide ownership with timely financial insight and risk awareness.\r\n\tCoordinate with outside accountants for tax and audit support.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nAccounts Payable & Receivable:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tOversee and manage accounts receivable and accounts payable coordinators.\r\n\tMonitor invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.\r\n\tEnsure timely and accurate processing of payroll, tax filings (including sales tax), and vendor payments.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nCompliance & Controls:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tEnsure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and county/state financial regulations.\r\n\tPrepare and file multi-state sales tax returns and manage agricultural tax exemptions.\r\n\tAssist in audits by maintaining accurate and organized financial records.\r\n\tImplement and oversee internal financial controls to minimize risks.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nBudgeting & Forecasting:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tSupport the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts.\r\n\tMonitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.\r\n\tProvide financial insights to management for strategic decision-making.\r\n\tManage seasonal cash flow swings and monitor daily cash position.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nProcess Improvement & System Maintenance:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tIdentify and recommend opportunities for improving financial processes and efficiencies.\r\n\tMaintain accounting software and financial reporting systems to ensure accuracy and functionality.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nInventory & Cost Accounting:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tReconcile inventory quantities and costs.\r\n\tAccount for grower advances, settlements, and production costs.\r\n\tTrack and value packaged seed and grower-produced seed.\r\n\tUnderstand crop-year timing vs. fiscal-year reporting.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nPayroll & HR Benefits Administration:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tSubmit and approve payroll while ensuring payroll tax compliance.\r\n\tAdminister employee benefits (health insurance, retirement, supplemental insurance, etc.) and serve as point of contact for employee benefit questions.\r\n\tTrack eligibility, enrollments, and changes in benefits.\r\n\tCoordinate with benefit brokers and vendors and assist ownership with benefit renewals and cost analysis.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nAccounting Manager Qualifications:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.\r\n\t7+ years of experience in inventory and cost accounting.\r\n\tStrong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.\r\n\tExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.\r\n\tExperience with forecasting and budgeting, including seasonal cash flow planning.\r\n\tDetail-oriented but practical business-minded\r\n\tStrong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks with tight deadlines (comfortable working cross-functionally).\r\n\tKnowledge of payroll and sales tax processing and tax compliance.\r\n\tHigh level of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.\r\n\tExperience with ERP or ag-related accounting systems (e.g. Agvance, NetSuite, etc.)\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nStrongly Preferred:\r\n\r\n\r\n\tExperience in agriculture, seed, grain, feed, fertilizer, or manufacturing.\r\n\tFamiliarity with grower contracts or production-based business.\r\n\tExperience with ERP or ag accounting systems.\r\n\tCPA or CMA a plus (but not required)\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThis Role is a GREAT Fit if YOU…\r\n\r\n\r\n\tUnderstand that ag is seasonal – and don’t panic when things get busy!\r\n\tLike working with operations, not just reports.\r\n\tValue accuracy, consistency, and trust.\r\n\tEnjoy being the “go-to” financial person in a close-knit business.\r\n\tWant stability and long-term opportunity, not job hopping.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nHours and Benefits:\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWorking Hours: Monday -
