Overview
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Dairy Farm Assistant to join our agricultural team. This role involves supporting daily farm operations, maintaining facilities, and assisting with livestock management. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, physical stamina, and a passion for farming. Prior experience or knowledge in animal husbandry, machinery operation, and maintenance is highly valued. This position offers an opportunity to develop hands-on skills in a dynamic farm environment. The position offers 40 hours per week with additional hours available upon request. The position runs from early May until late August. Additional weeks are available upon request.
Duties
- Feed and bed cattle
- Operate farm machinery and power tools safely and efficiently
- Maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution
- Perform routine repairs and maintenance on farm equipment and structures
- Use hand tools for various tasks including fencing, planting, and repairs
- Support livestock care including feeding, cleaning, and health monitoring
- Conduct general farm upkeep such as cleaning work areas and organizing supplies
- Assist with heavy lifting of supplies, equipment, or harvested crops as needed
- Follow safety protocols during all farm operations to prevent accidents
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and maintaining farm machinery
- Ability to operate equipment safely and effectively
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance tasks
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and record keeping
- Knowledge of farm safety procedures and proper equipment handling
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in outdoor conditions
