Spend the summer working outdoors with animals in the heart of the Yukon. Wild Adventure Yukon is the Yukon's largest tourism destination, hosting hundreds of guests per day throughout the summer season. Our peak season runs from May to September, and each summer we employ around 30 seasonal staff who live and work on-site in stunning Carcross.
As part of our operation, Wild Adventure Yukon operates a small, hands-on animal yard where guests can safely connect with and learn about a variety of friendly farm animals. We’re seeking an experienced, reliable Animal Yard Supervisor to oversee the daily care, health, and overall operation of the yard. This is a working leadership role responsible for maintaining animal care and welfare standards, leading a team of 2–3 staff, and supporting safe, engaging interactions between animals and guests.
This position is ideal for someone with extensive large animal care experience - such as a veterinary or animal science student, livestock professional, or experienced farm/yard manager.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily feeding, cleaning, and husbandry for all animals
- Monitor health and behavior; provide first aid/basic treatments and coordinate veterinary care with Management team
- Maintain feeding schedules, enrichment, and health records
- Lead, train, and supervise a small team (2–3 staff)
- Maintain clean, safe barns, pens, fencing, and equipment
- Manage feed, bedding, and medical supply inventory
- Support and supervise guest interactions and animal experiences
- Ensure excellent standards of safety and animal welfare
Qualifications
- Extensive experience with large animal care required
- Veterinary/animal science background strongly preferred
- Confident, calm animal handling skills
- Previous team leadership or supervisory experience
- Organised, dependable, and comfortable working outdoors in all weather
- Valid driver’s license an asset
