This is a working, second-in-command role designed to support ownership and senior management in the daily operation of the feedyard. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys being involved in all aspects of feedyard production and is looking to grow into increased responsibility over time.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nPosition Overview\r\n\r\nThe Assistant Feedyard Manager will assist with the coordination and execution of daily feedyard operations, working closely with Feedyard Manager and ownership, consulting professionals, and the feedyard team. This individual will be actively involved in cattle handling, feeding, equipment operation, employee direction, and facility upkeep. The role focuses on helping ensure efficient, compliant, and well-run operations while maintaining strong animal health and performance outcomes.\r\nThis is a hands-on leadership position, not a desk role, and requires a strong work ethic, good judgment, and the ability to step in where needed on a daily basis.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nKey Responsibilities\r\n\r\n\r\n\tAssist in managing day-to-day feedyard operations under direction of ownership/senior management\r\n\tSupport receiving, processing, and shipping of cattle\r\n\tAssist with feeding programs, feed calling, and feed mill operations\r\n\tHelp manage feed ingredient inventory and coordinate deliveries\r\n\tMonitor cattle health and performance; assist with animal health protocols\r\n\tWork closely with consulting veterinarians and nutritionists to support cattle performance and address issues\r\n\tAssist in managing shrink and death loss\r\n\tOperate and oversee feedyard equipment and rolling stock\r\n\tAssist with equipment maintenance, repairs, and scheduling of service\r\n\tHelp direct and support feedyard employees; lead by example\r\n\tAssist with yard upkeep, cleanliness, and general facility appearance\r\n\tSupport environmental and waste management practices\r\n\tHelp ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations\r\n\tCommunicate proactively with ownership and team members regarding daily operations and needs\r\n\t \r\n\r\n\r\nIdeal Candidate Profile\r\n\r\n\r\n\tPrior feedyard or cattle feeding experience preferred\r\n\tHands-on, dependable, and willing to work alongside the crew\r\n\tGood understanding of cattle health, feeding, and equipment operation\r\n\tMechanical aptitude and appreciation for preventive maintenance\r\n\tStrong communication skills and team-oriented mindset\r\n\tDesire to grow professionally and take on increased responsibility over time\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nGrowth Opportunity\r\n\r\nThis position offers long-term advancement potential for the right individual.
