Job Description:

To support this mission, Syngenta is seeking a Master Data Management Data Lead in Slater, IA. This role will oversee the strategic direction, governance, and operational excellence of master data within the Seeds organization.
The Master Data Management Data Leadwill guide the master data function through the entire SAP ECC and S/4HANA transition, maintaining business continuity in the current ECC environment while developing and sustaining a long-term master data operating model in S/4HANA. Responsibilities encompass establishing, owning, and evolving the enterprise MDM governance framework-covering policies, roles, forums, and standards. The role involves leading migration strategies, such as data cleansing, readiness assessments, validation, cutover planning, and hypercare support. Developing SOPs, data models and definitions, KPIs, and quality monitoring processes is essential for maintaining data excellence.
The position requires coordinating cross-functional initiatives with IT, Regions, Supply Chain, Quality, R&D, and Program leadership. Regular reporting on progress, risks, and decisions to senior leadership ensures compliance and audit readiness. Additionally, the role manages team capability development, performance, and the evolution of the global operating model, along with overseeing budgets, tools, technology enablement, and training investments.
Accountabilities:
- Ensure data consistency, accuracy, completeness, and compliance across ECC and S/4HANA.
- Own master data architecture decisions and migration execution plans; manage issue escalation and change control.
- Deliver cleansing/readiness initiatives and risk mitigation to protect business continuity.
- Maintain integration with adjacent systems, processes, and compliance requirements.
- Balance BAU ECC stability with S/4HANA transformation milestones and adoption.
- Establish sustainable, auditable governance and drive adherence across regions/functions.
- Manage complex stakeholder environment and competing priorities under compressed timelines.
- Enable knowledge transfer and build long-term capabilities across global team and business owners.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in business, IT, Data Management, or related field; Master's preferred.
- Strong understanding of SAP ECC, S/4HANA, SAP MDG, and enterprise data governance frameworks.
- Certifications in SAP S/4HANA, SAP MDG, or Change Management preferred.
- 8+ years of SAP Master Data experience across ECC and S/4 environments.
- Proven leadership of master data migration/transformation programs.
- 3+ years leading teams (onshore/offshore).
- Experience building and governing global MDM frameworks.
- SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, SAP MDG, and data migration tools.
- Data quality rules, workflows, and monitoring/automation.
- Project and change management methodologies (e.g., cutover, hyper care).
- Stakeholder engagement and communication across matrixed, global environments.
