This is a unique ground-floor opportunity for a highly motivated agricultural professional who wants to be involved in building and managing an operation from the ground up.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nPOSITION OVERVIEW\r\n\r\nThis role will serve as the on-site operational lead for a newly developing orchard operation. The Orchard Operations Manager will work directly with ownership and a remote consultant to establish infrastructure, develop the orchard, and manage all day-to-day operations. The individual hired will have significant decision-making responsibility and will play a key role in building the business from its earliest stages. This is not a traditional, established farm position. The successful candidate must be comfortable stepping into a start-up environment where systems, equipment, and facilities are still being developed.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nRESPONSIBILITIES\r\n\r\n· Oversee daily operations of developing orchard\r\n\r\n· Assist with infrastructure planning and development\r\n\r\n· Coordinate installation of irrigation systems\r\n\r\n· Make recommendations and decisions on equipment purchases\r\n\r\n· Establish operational procedures and workflow\r\n\r\n· Hire, train, and supervise a small team (3–4 employees)\r\n\r\n· Manage planting, spraying, fertility, and harvest planning\r\n\r\n· Oversee payroll approvals and administrative functions\r\n\r\n· Work with vendors and establish supplier relationships\r\n\r\n· Track expenses and assist with budgeting decisions\r\n\r\n· Coordinate with ownership and consultant for strategic direction\r\n\r\n· Manage operation as a business unit with ownership mindset\r\n\r\nThis role will require both hands-on field work and management responsibilities.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nIDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE\r\n\r\nEmployer prefers an individual who:\r\n\r\n· Has strong production agriculture background\r\n\r\n· Is confident making decisions independently\r\n\r\n· Can take direction and communicate remotely\r\n\r\n· Has leadership and management potential\r\n\r\n· Is adaptable and not set in rigid methods\r\n\r\n· Has interest in long-term orchard development\r\n\r\n· Is looking for advancement opportunity\r\n\r\n· Is willing to grow with the operation\r\n\r\nHazelnut or tree-crop experience is not required.
