Summary of Job Purpose and Function
The Expeditor will supervise and manage all aspects of the technical support staff and ensure the daily flow of appointments and patient care is nothing less then exceptional. The Expeditor is proficient in pet restraint, lab work, procedures, surgery, nursing care, triage/discharge of patients, and excels at client communication. They will aid the doctors in achieving greater efficiency by better organizing the flow of the day. The Expeditor is expected to train, coach, mentor their direct reports and exemplify the hospital’s culture.
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks
- Oversee and ensure compassionate and quality patient care
- Medical chart and documentation compliance, ensure all are accurate and up to date
- Oversee and collaborate the daily flow of appointments and surgeries with Client Service Manager
- Involved with HR, recruiting, and terminating
- Training and mentoring staff
- Oversee/manage technical staff schedules
- Monitor compliance of policy and procedures
- Oversee Inventory
- Conflict management
- Work closely with hospital practice owner/practice manager regarding staffing, scheduling and daily changes/challenges for all technical staff
- Field questions and inquires about services, triage, and products.
- Provide knowledgeable advice concerning the care and treatment of animals.
- Know common drugs and protocols and be able to explain them to clients.
- Follow established hospital policies and procedures when handling client concerns and complaints.
- Maintain a clean and orderly facility.
- Perform CSR duties when a CSR is unavailable.
- Operate and maintain hospital equipment i.e.: EKG, fluid pump, scales, CO2 monitor, and anesthesia machines.

Special Working Conditions
- Employee should expect to spend nearly all of their workdays standing, sitting and typing at a computer.

Experience, Education and/ or Training
- Completion of an accredited veterinary technology program and appropriate registration status.
- This position requires a high school diploma or further education.
- Possesses excellent computer skills
- Previous back and/or front office work experience preferred
- The noise level in the work environment is moderately high.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form and to solve problems involving several variables.
- Requires ambulatory skills sufficient to perform duties while at hospital.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
- Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to reach and grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read information.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Staff is routinely exposed to pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/ controlled substances.
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
