Duties
- Oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of underwater bee habitats using specialized equipment such as welding tools, hand tools, and heavy machinery.
- Monitor bee colony health through regular inspections, ensuring proper animal husbandry practices are followed in an aquatic setting.
- Operate heavy equipment including forklifts and other farm machinery to transport supplies and maintain underwater structures safely.
- Conduct routine equipment repairs and perform preventative maintenance to ensure all underwater apiary systems function efficiently.
- Manage irrigation systems and water quality parameters to create a thriving environment for bees beneath the water surface.
- Supervise team members involved in animal care, habitat management, and equipment operation, fostering a collaborative work atmosphere.
- Handle heavy lifting tasks, equipment setup, and troubleshooting with precision to support ongoing hive stability and safety.
Skills
- Supervising experience with teams in agricultural or marine environments is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge including equipment repair, welding, power tools use, and farm machinery operation.
- Strong animal husbandry skills with a focus on bee care, animal handling, and maintaining healthy colonies in aquatic settings.
- Familiarity with farming practices such as irrigation, horticulture, greenhouse management, and growing experience.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment like forklifts and heavy machinery safely and efficiently.
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to water quality testing, feeding schedules, and inventory management.
- Knowledge of animal care standards combined with hands-on experience in animal husbandry or equine experience is a plus.
- Experience with maintenance routines involving hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, and general equipment upkeep.
- Understanding of aquaculture principles related to creating sustainable habitats for bees underwater while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
