Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Farm Hand to support the daily operations of our horse and animal farm. This hands‑on role involves caring for horses and livestock, maintaining barns and paddocks, and operating equipment used in animal‑farm management. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, physical stamina, and a genuine passion for working with animals and the outdoors. This position offers valuable experience in equine care, animal husbandry, facility maintenance, and farm management.
Responsibilities
- Feed, water, groom, and monitor horses and other farm animals to ensure their health and well‑being
- Clean stalls, paddocks, shelters, and barns; manage bedding, manure removal, and general sanitation
- Assist with exercising horses, leading them to and from pastures, and supporting basic training or handling routines
- Observe animals for signs of illness or injury and report concerns promptly
- Operate farm machinery such as tractors, skid steers, and utility vehicles safely and efficiently
- Maintain fencing, gates, shelters, and other farm structures using hand and power tools
- Support veterinary and farrier visits by preparing animals and assisting as needed
- Load and unload feed, hay, bedding, and supplies; stack hay bales and manage feed storage
- Perform general farm upkeep including mowing, arena dragging, snow removal, and property maintenance
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks related to hay, equipment, or animal handling
Experience
- Prior experience working with horses or livestock is preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Comfort and confidence handling horses of various temperaments is highly beneficial
- Mechanical aptitude is an asset for maintaining equipment such as tractors, waterers, and barn tools
- Familiarity with animal husbandry, equine care, and farm safety practices is a plus
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently is desirable
- Basic math skills for measuring feed, tracking inventory, and managing supplies
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, barn chores, and outdoor work for extended periods
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and farm machinery is advantageous
Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour
