Position Overview
We’re looking for curious, dependable, and hardworking individuals to join our team for the summer as Farm Hands. This is an entry-level role designed for people who want to learn the craft of oyster farming from the ground up. You’ll gain hands-on experience across all areas of the farm — from planting seed to harvesting market-ready oysters — while working outdoors in one of the most unique environments the Chesapeake Bay has to offer.
Key Responsibilities
- Planting and caring for shellfish seed.
- Sorting and grading oysters by size and quality.
- Pulling and harvesting market-ready oysters.
- Assisting with farm maintenance and general labor.
- Safely operating boats and farm equipment (with training).
- Keeping accurate notes and supporting daily farm operations.
What We’re Looking For
- Eco-conscious and excited about sustainable aquaculture.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Able to lift 40 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Comfortable on boats for trips lasting up to two hours.
- Good communication skills and a commitment to teamwork.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Prior farm, fishery, or outdoor work experience a plus, but not required.

Schedule & Location:
- Typical schedule: 8-hour shifts, Monday–Friday (occasional Sundays).
- Position is based at our farm in Topping, VA 23169.
- Candidates must be able to reliably commute or relocate before starting work.
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
