Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, along with the necessary skills to assist veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care to our patients. This role involves working closely with animals and their owners, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all.

Responsibilities

Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
Perform routine tasks such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and preparing animals for surgery.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilizing instruments and managing supplies.
Handle various animal species with care, including dogs, cats, and other small animals.
Provide support in laboratory procedures such as sample collection and processing.
Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and post-operative instructions.
Monitor animal behavior and health status during their stay at the clinic or hospital.
Assist with kennel duties including cleaning, feeding, and exercising animals.
Utilize veterinary terminology accurately in communication with team members.

Requirements

Previous veterinary experience is preferred; however, candidates with strong animal handling skills may be considered.
Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and husbandry practices is essential.
Experience with dog handling, restraint techniques, and catheterization is highly desirable.
Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures is a plus.
Laboratory experience is beneficial for assisting in diagnostic testing.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong communication skills to interact positively with clients and team members.
Aseptic technique knowledge is important for maintaining health standards within the clinic.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
