POSITION OBJECTIVE

This position contributes to the operational effectiveness of the Mounted Police Section by assisting with the management of police horses and their facilities.

Applicants are asked to address the following nominated work related requirements in no more than two (2) pages:

Knowledge of horsemanship and animal husbandry - Managing a horse population consisting of working, development and retired stock. Ensuring the health and well-being of horses. Assisting with specific daily dietary requirements of horses.

Horse riding skills - Riding a horse competently and demonstrating safe riding.

Applicants are also required to submit a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV). Your CV should provide enough detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills and experience and qualifications relevant to the Key Accountabilities of the attached Position Description Form.

The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant’s ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.

Note: This position is a physically demanding role. Horse handling experience is required.

SPECIALIST PREREQUISITE

Possession of a current Australian Medium Rigid (MR class) heavy vehicle driver's licence or learner’s permit. The job holder being required to hold licence within three (3) months of commencement of employment or learners permit prior to commencement of employment.

OTHER CONDITIONS

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout the division. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.

Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended applicant for a position is not a current WA Police Force employee. Any relocation costs associated with appointment to these positions may be the responsibility of the successful applicants.
