Job Summary
The Folly Road Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Associate Veterinarian to join our family-oriented, growing practice in Charleston, South Carolina.

The hospital is located on James Island, a rapidly growing island community, which is centrally located between beautiful historic, dowtown Charleston and Folly Beach, also known as "the edge of Ameria" and home to world class surfing.

Both places can be accessed within ten minutes from the hospital.

Superior coastal Red fishing, deer and turkey hunting, kayaking, sailing and kite boarding are also popular outdoor activities, locally.

The hospital has a complete in-house laboratory, an ultrasound, digital radiography, a "cats only" exam room, a dual surgery table, electronic anesthesia monitoring, mobile digital ECG. A large, stand-alone, kennel reduces noise and odors in the main hospital and can accommodate many patients.

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough examinations of small animals, including dogs, cats, and other companion species, utilizing veterinary terminology and clinical skills.
Diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions, performing procedures such as animal catheterization, wound management, and administering medications.
Assist with animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both animals and staff during examinations and treatments.
Perform laboratory tests, interpret results, and maintain accurate records to support diagnosis and treatment plans.
Educate pet owners on animal husbandry, pet grooming, nutrition, vaccination schedules, and general pet care best practices.
Maintain aseptic techniques during surgical procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
Support emergency cases by applying veterinary critical care experience when needed, including stabilizing critically ill animals.
Collaborate with team members on complex cases involving animal physiology and anatomy knowledge to develop effective treatment strategies.
A willingness to perform some emergency work, and to assist in some staff management is desired in the applicant.

Qualifications

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (or VMD) degree from an accredited College of Veterinary Medicine.
Current license to practice Veterinary Medicine in the state of South Carolina.
Professional demeanor and apperance, a commitment to practicing high standards of medicine and surgery, a 'team player' who is flexible, a willingness "to go the extra mile", a good communicator, and who likes people and animals are all qualities required in the applicant.

Pay: $140,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
