Hours: 8:00 a.m. until job is complete. Typically, this position will average 40 hours a week.
The work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.
Position Summary:
- This position is responsible for conducting weekly fertility checks on all flocks 45 weeks or less inside the incubators. That data will need to be input into the computer database and shared with service technicians and complex managers to help them manage their flocks. Other essential responsibilities include embryo diagnosis, gathering embryo shell temperatures, vaccine inventory, lab samples, reading and recording lab plates, supporting prepull employee, and conducting mini mock audits to help the hatchery stay in process control.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience: Demonstrated previous experience in a lead/supervisory role and/or a minimum of 6 months in related field.
- Ability to pass a pulmonary function and respirator fit test at facility discretion
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Weekly fertility checks on all flocks 45 weeks and less. This includes candling, removing, and breaking out the eggs removed. Enter data collected into the data base system (25%)
- Weekly egg residue breaks out on all flocks once per week. This includes breakout and data entered in the CHS system (15%)
- Record daily EST (embryo shell temperatures) and our entrance end temperatures. (This process is vital information used to maximize the performance of our incubators) (10%)
- Vaccine inventory reconciliation and data entry of inventory into database (10%)
- Responsible for all the lab samples conducted and shipped from the hatchery including the normal weekly samples and any special request made by the QA department. Read all the normal lab plates taken at the hatchery and record them into the database (10%)
- Support and guidance with the pre pull position and conduct this task if needed (10%)
- Conduct a mini mock audit on a weekly basis from the hatchery audit sheet including temp checks, sanitation checks, and other processes included in our audit process (10%)
Other Duties, Responsibilities and Activities:
- These may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. Such as: Assist maintenance, fill in other areas of the hatchery, e.g., processing, Embrex, sanitation (10%)
Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:
- The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering on-site and changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to not own and avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Physical: Must be able to lift/move 50 lbs. and must be able to push/pull 1000-1500 lbs. (on wheels). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend over; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.

- Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, and cold environments.
- Personal Protective Equipment Required: Respirator, Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required when handling chemicals. Ear plugs will be used as needed.
- Chemicals Commonly Used: Formaldehyde is in use at the facility, disinfectant, lubricants and virocid (Synergize).
- Safety: TM is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. TM is expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety related risks.
