About the opportunity

The Veterinary Nurse provides assistance during veterinary procedures in our Small Animal GP hospital . They perform routine veterinary tasks and monitor hospitalised animals. They serve as mentors to veterinary interns, imparting essential technical skills. They also maintain the sterility and cleanliness of clinical environments and medical equipment. This is a rewarding role with opportunities for the right candidates to expand into our specialist equine or wildlife hospital.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

provides nursing assistance during veterinary procedures, including surgery and emergency care
perform routine veterinary tasks, such as blood collection and IV catheter placement, monitoring hospitalised animals
mentor veterinary interns, guiding them in technical skills such as administering medication and daily treatments
manage clinical admissions and discharges
oversee the cleanliness of clinical areas and sterilise medical equipment as required
assist team members in adhering to safety protocols, contribute to regular safety checks in the designated area, and provide input during team discussions about health and safety improvements
assist in coordinating communication with stakeholders, ensuring that concerns are addressed promptly and effectively, and contribute to updating and managing stakeholder databases

About You

must have a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent
a passion for Veterinary Nursing
experience within a busy veterinary hospital
ability to communicate with veterinary professionals and academic staff
knowledge of a large range of veterinary surgical & medical procedures.
strong communication, organisational and time management skills
effective teamwork and collaboration skills
