Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess their health and diagnose any medical conditions.
- Administer vaccinations and medications as needed.
- Perform surgical procedures, including spaying, neutering, and other necessary operations.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to ensure the safety of both animals and staff during procedures.
- Provide emergency care for injured or ill animals.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Maintain accurate medical records for all patients treated.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians and support staff to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Stay updated on advancements in veterinary medicine and participate in continuing education opportunities.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology.
- Proficiency in animal handling techniques, including dog handling and animal restraint methods.
- Experience with animal catheterization procedures.
- Familiarity with animal husbandry practices to ensure the well-being of pets in care.
- Ability to perform basic veterinary procedures with precision and care.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with pet owners and team members.
- Strong problem-solving abilities to address medical issues efficiently.
