Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal care and handling, with a focus on providing high-quality veterinary support. This role involves working closely with veterinarians to ensure the health and well-being of our animal patients, performing various clinical tasks, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures
- Perform routine laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging, including X-rays
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed
- Provide proper animal restraint and handling during procedures
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and training techniques
- Monitor vital signs and overall health of animals in the clinic
- Maintain cleanliness of the clinic, including examination rooms and surgical areas
- Utilize aseptic techniques to prevent infection during procedures
- Provide grooming services as needed for patient comfort
Experience
Candidates should have previous experience in veterinary settings or related fields. Preferred qualifications include:
- Veterinary technician experience with knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal physiology
- Experience in animal husbandry, dog handling, and pet care practices
- Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures related to animal dental care
- Background in veterinary critical care or emergency situations is a plus
- Laboratory experience for conducting tests and analyzing results
- Equine experience is beneficial but not required
- Knowledge of animal anatomy, catheterization techniques, and restraint methods
- Certification in Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Technology with at least 5-10 years experience to receive this level of pay to start.
