Seeking a technician with the biggest heart to work with the smallest patients! The Southern Maine Hospital for Small Mammals (www.mainesmallmammals.com) is Maine’s first hospital exclusively dedicated to the care of exotic companion mammals like rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hedgehogs and chinchillas. We opened our doors in October 2023.
We are looking for a technician or assistant who possesses a minimum of three years of experience working as both a surgical and an appointment/room tech. Experience with exotic companion mammal handling is strongly preferred. Strong client communication skills are a must. Our top priority is to hire friendly, collaborative teammates who value mutual respect, are open to new ideas, and demonstrate appreciation of all species, regardless of size. Proficiency with DaySmart Vet or another cloud-based practice management system is a plus.
Our surgical and treatment areas, patient ward and exam rooms were specifically designed with the needs of exotic patients in mind; the hospital includes a full in-house lab (IDEXX Catalyst & ProCyte) as well as xray and ultrasound.
Benefits include 100% employer-paid medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverage as well as six weeks off each year (four weeks paid). Other benefits include a uniform allowance and an employer-matched 401K retirement plan.
If you are seeking a new opportunity and would enjoy working in the kind of positive, nurturing environment that puts both clients and patients at ease, we would love to hear from you! Please email your resume to amy.ford@mainesmallmammals.com.
