Veterinary Assistant & Receptionist– Ophthalmology Specialty

Join our dedicated Ophthalmology team as a Veterinary Assistant and Receptionist, where your passion for animal care and attention to detail will support our veterinarians and technicians in providing exceptional eye care to our patients. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a specialized field while ensuring that our clinical environment runs smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Care & Support:
- Prepare exam rooms for ophthalmic evaluations.
- Set up and assist in instrument distribution during procedures and surgeries.
- Assist with patient handling during diagnostic tests and treatments. - MUST HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN ANIMAL RESTRAINT!
- Support and assist the Lead Surgery Technician
- Check patients in and out
- Interact with clients on the phone and in person
- Clinical Assistance:
- Help set up and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
- Use autoclave for sterilization. - MUST HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERINCE IN WORKING WITH A STERILE FIELD.
- Wrap surgery pack - MUST HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN WRAPPING SURGICAL PACKS!
- Office & Laboratory Duties:
- Maintain accurate inventory and receive supplies/medications.
- Manage and organize ophthalmology supplies and inventory.
Qualifications
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in veterinary assisting or related coursework is preferred.
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic is mandatory.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Person must have amazing multi-tasking and follow-through. This position requires the ability to pivot seamlessly between tasks while maintaining focus and ensuring timely completion of responsibilities—even after interruptions.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Basic understanding of veterinary practices and animal handling.
- Physical Requirements:
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
- Capable of proper animal restraint.
