NRVES will be one of the only emergency hospitals in Southwestern Virginia. We entirely renovated a cherished building facing Radford University and designed an ER-specific layout, focused on flow and efficiency. NRVES is brand new, with fresh ambition and energy; while our owner, management, and support staff, are well-seasoned, with years of emergency experience.
Our greatest aspiration is to employ an entire staff of veterinary professionals who feel heard and supported. NRVES began with a dream - to have a hospital that practices new and advanced medicine, that allows for autonomy; a place that prioritizes patient care, actively asks for and implements employee feedback, and openly discusses mental health; a job where management works on the floor alongside support staff, where we go home proud of ourselves at the end of the day. NRVES is solely owned and is relentlessly dedicated to achieving this dream.
Dr. Garvey’s plans for NRVES include incorporating her 501c3 animal rescue and utilizing weekdays to assist the community with spay/neuter days, community education, shelter assistance, etc. She lives just 5 minutes from the hospital and shares her home with her amazing 3-year-old daughter-Emma, and their herd of “owner surrenders”; a crazy dog-Milk, and way too many cats-Jameson, Blackie Wallace, Taco, Ketones, Chicken, Waffles, and Pretzel.
