The Farm/Building manager is responsible for making the needed winter cow feed and servicing the background lot for developing 700+ heifer calves December through May. Pivots irrigated alfalfa and flood irrigated grass are spread between ranches. This position is supported by a crew of seasonal workers and H2A workers from Mexico. Good communication skills are imperative, particularly during the two cuttings of hay in the summer.\r\n\r\nThe ranch has 8 homes for employees, an owner s house and a lodge. The Farm/Building manager will familiarize themselves with all homes and perform the maintenance and upkeep needed. This position will work with local contractors on jobs requiring special skills/tools: roofing, plumbing, electrical, etc.\r\n\r\nRole and Responsibilities\r\nFarm Manager:\r\n- Pivot irrigation and regular maintenance of pivots\r\n- Management of seasonal crews\r\n- Strategic use of fertilizer on a variety of forage crops: grass, alfalfa, cereal forages\r\n- Harvesting a diverse crop of hay with late model John Deere equipment\r\n- Work closely with ranch manager on cropping plan\r\n- Record keeping: water and electrical use per pivot, hay yields, fertilizer use\r\n- Maintenance on all ranch equipment: tractors, swathers, balers, dump truck, excavator, bale processors, mixer wagon, SxS s etc.\r\n- Mixing and feeding TMR to 700 calves in backgrounding lot December-May\r\n- Pump, pipeline and tank maintenance on extensive stockwater system\r\n\r\nBuilding Manager:\r\n- Work closely with ranch manager to maintain buildings and landscaping throughout the year\r\n- Siding, roofs, driveways, ponds, landscape irrigation, etc.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nBENEFITS:\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nNice 4 Bedroom Home, Utilities, Cell Phone\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nALL INQUIRIES ARE KEPT CONFIDENTIAL.
