Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Production Veterinarian to join our team. This position plays a critical role in animal health management, employee development, and operational performance across multiple feedyard locations.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled veterinarian who thrives in a collaborative, challenging environment, has strong analytical capabilities, and is enthusiastic about training and mentoring feedyard personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Animal Health & Welfare
- Diagnose, treat, and prevent cattle diseases while ensuring the highest animal welfare standards.
- Develop and implement preventive health strategies, vaccination protocols, and biosecurity measures.
- Maintain a sound understanding of current standard treatment options, expected prognoses, and outcome-based decision-making.
Team Development & Training
- Lead training and development programs of feedyard cowboys, processing crews and managers on animal health, handling, and treatment protocols.
- Collaborate with consulting veterinarians to provide continuing education for feedyard associates and animal health teams.
Data & Analytics
- Leverage animal health and performance data to identify trends, evaluate treatment efficacy, and inform operational decisions.
- Work closely with feedyard managers and nutritionists to optimize cattle performance using data-driven insights.
Collaboration & Industry Engagement
- Communicate with pharmaceutical representatives to understand the mechanisms of new products and evaluate the performance of existing products and treatment protocols.
- Coordinate with consulting veterinarians, nutritionists, and operational leaders to maintain consistency and excellence across locations.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
- Licensure (or eligibility) to practice veterinary medicine in Nebraska and Kansas.
- Experience in feedlot or production animal medicine preferred.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with a passion for mentoring and developing others.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Willingness to travel between the 5 feedyard locations as needed.
