Bio-Vet, a premier manufacturer of microbial and nutritional supplements for dairy, beef, and other livestock, is looking for a driven Regional Sales Representative to join our team.
Position Summary
Effectively provide sales to support livestock producers (Dairy, Beef and other) of Bio-Vet daily direct fed (feed) microbials, and nutritional supplements. Develop demand for Bio-Vet microbial / nutritional supplements through dealers, nutritionists, and distribution by coordinating selling activities, producer meetings, and riding with re-selling representatives. Effectively communicate the benefits of improved productivity and health of livestock and equine, by using Bio-Vet products.
Duties, Responsibilities, Activities:
- Meet sales performance objectives as determined by Bio-Vet for your assigned area and accounts to ensure achievement of market share objectives, and in coordination with available marketing, sales, research and development, customer service, administration and finance, and technical service resources.
- Initiate livestock producer calls to communicate the benefits of Bio-Vet and our products resulting in product sales. Record and update Bio-Vet Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database in coordination with field and administrative staff.
- Communicate statements about the benefits offered by Bio-Vet products according to Bio-Vet, Inc. approved statements and within compliance of all regulations.
- Maintain the highest professional standards when conducting business on behalf of Bio-Vet to maintain and develop Bio-Vet’s reputation as the premier manufacturer of microbial / nutritional supplements.
- Monitors and maintains awareness of livestock production practices, trends, and challenges in the assigned region.
- Conduct Dealer, Veterinarian, Distribution calls and sales support for the purpose of generating sales of products to livestock producers via distribution networks. Identify and open new dealers where appropriate to generate new business where distribution is not available. Open retail (direct) accounts in consolidated livestock production businesses.
- Regularly communicate via email with team members and clients, providing clear and timely responses.
- Complete electronic submission of sales orders and deliveries accurately and in a timely manner.
- Complete electronic Concur expense reports in compliance with company policies.
- Identify and locate local potential direct selling representatives / dealers capable of selling Bio-Vet, Inc. DFM to livestock producers.
- Accurately communicate Bio-Vet pricing, promotions, and all policies to customers so that customer expectations are met.
- Attend all assigned trade shows and exhibitions.
- Accurately account for and manage all Bio-Vet property, including inventory, promotional products, and items to achieve the targeted return on invested capital.
- Identify key and influential contacts that may serve to further selling objectives using Bio-Vet products.
- Utilize electronic reports to effectively organize sales activities to optimize time and resources available.
- Improve product and animal science knowledge through reading and study of Bio-Vet materials and industry information to function as a resource to customers in the use of Bio-Vet, Inc. products.
- Organize and complete travel and route planning, using CRM as necessary, to effectively manage territory maximizing effectiveness of Bio-Vet sales and delivery in all areas with dense livestock populations.
- Provide customer support for questions regarding product performance in a timely manner to assure customer satisfaction.
- Refer technical product questions to the Technical Services team.
- Provide Bio-Vet management and marketing with recommendations for improvements in products, policies, and resource deployment to assist in achieving overall business objectives.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Familiarity with local livestock production practices, trends, and challenges within the assigned territory.
- Ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Strong skills in building and maintaining relationships with clients to ensure long-term business partnerships.
- Proficiency in analyzing market trends and customer needs to identify new sales opportunities.
- In-depth knowledge of animal feed products to provide accurate information and recommendations to customers.
- Excellent negotiation skills to close deals and secure the best terms for the company.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to clearly convey information and persuade potential clients.
- Demonstrated proficiency with email, MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PDF file formats), CRM platforms, expense reporting tools (e.g., Concur), and other digital systems using tablets and mobile devices for efficient field-based operations.
- Familiarity with livestock production management software preferred, along with a willingness to pursue continued education and skill development in this area.
- Ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A valid driver’s license with insurable driving record.
- Overnight travel may be required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business, agriculture, or related field
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in animal nutrition sales or general production animal husbandry.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods of driving a vehicle
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs occasionally
