Independence Community College seeks applications for the position of Associate Professor Industrial Maintenance Technology. Independence Community College, a small, rural, residential community college in southeast Kansas, serves approximately 1500 full- and part-time students each year.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nPosition Summary\r\n\r\nThe Associate Professor of Industrial Maintenance Technology is a 9-month full-time position reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Salary Range is $45,000 - $75,000 with final salary commensurate with experience and credentials based on the Faculty Negotiated Agreement.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe Associate Professor of Industrial Maintenance Technology is responsible for providing quality and industry-standard instruction in industrial systems topics using seated, online, and lab courses. This position will provide innovative and engaging instruction while ensuring that course topics and examples evolve with advancements in the field and will network with the regional industry to collaborate on a variety of projects through the Director of Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Systems Technology Program Chair.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe Associate Professor of Industrial Maintenance Technology will assist the division in collaborating across curriculum and continuing education divisions to deliver courses that meet the needs of local industry partners and students.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nPrimary Responsibilities\r\n\r\n\r\n\tInstruct and facilitate Industrial Maintenance Technology courses.\r\n\tDeliver instructional programs in an efficient manner to provide access to quality learning experiences.\r\n\tGive input into the college’s structural shared governance and supportive activities.\r\n\tWork with instructors and college personnel to promote the college.\r\n\tMaintain regular shop and office hours.\r\n\tPlan, budget and oversee departmental budget.\r\n\tExhibit fiscal responsibility in budget development and implementation.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nGeneral Responsibilities \r\n\r\n\r\n\tComplete reports and communications in a timely manner for internal and external agencies.\r\n\tEnsure the security of all ICC property under the supervision of this role.\r\n\tIllustrate clarity of thought and expression in oral and written communications.\r\n\tCommunicate effectively with sensitivity to student learning styles and developmental needs.\r\n\tValidate responsible work habits through collaborative and collegial social interactions.\r\n\tAdhere to general rules of safety, procedures, and ethical job standards.\r\n\tShow willingness and ability to assist in development of new programming (including fund development and recruitment).\r\n\tPresent expertise in content area and keep abreast of advancements\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nMinimum Qualifications\r\n\r\n\r\n\tAssociate's degree from a regionally accredited institution and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline; OR At least 3 years of relevant industry experience.\r\n\tMust have experience in the fundamentals of industrial controls, machining, electricity, mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding.\r\n\tMust be able to read industrial schematics.\r\n\tMust have experience in troubleshooting industrial equipment typical to an industrial production environment.\r\n\tPrevious teaching experience at a community college or university, experience using instructional technologies, and teaching online courses are preferred.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nWorking Conditions/Physical Requirements \r\n\r\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of an Associate Professor of Industrial Maintenance Technology. It was established in 1925 as grades 13 and 14 of the Independence public school system. In 1967, Independence Community College legally separated from the school district. Construction of the new community college on a 68 acre campus, formerly the Independence Country Club, began in 1969. Classes at the new site began in September 1970.
