Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and well-being, along with relevant experience in a veterinary setting. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality care to our patients, ensuring their comfort and safety during visits.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Help on reception from time to time and as needed
- Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations and procedures.
- Administer medications as prescribed by the veterinarian.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas.
- Provide basic animal husbandry and care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals.
- Help prepare animals for surgery, including catheterization and monitoring vital signs.
- Perform laboratory tests as needed, adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Maintain accurate medical records using veterinary terminology.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding care instructions and follow-up appointments.
- Assist at the front desk with scheduling appointments and managing client inquiries.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and common veterinary terminology is essential.
- Experience with animal handling, restraint techniques, and medication administration is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with kennel operations and animal husbandry practices is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate compassionately with clients and team members.

Pay: $19.00-$23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
