Job Title: Animal Research Associate

Job Description

We are seeking an Animal Research Associate to manipulate, observe, and care for genetically altered rodents in preparation for study. The role involves performing vital tasks such as animal identification by marking, breeding, weaning, and collecting tissue samples for DNA or RNA analysis. You will also conduct natural history analysis upon request and record crucial data in the Data Management System. Additional responsibilities include breeding rodents serving as embryo donors and recipients, performing husbandry duties, and handling packing and shipping of rodents, as well as basic vivarium tasks like ordering supplies and general maintenance.

Responsibilities

Manipulate, observe, and care for genetically altered rodents.
Perform animal identification by marking, breeding, and weaning.
Collect tissue samples for DNA or RNA analysis.
Conduct natural history analysis upon request.
Record crucial data in the Data Management System.
Breed rodents serving as embryo donors and recipients.
Perform husbandry duties including cage changing.
Handle packing and shipping of rodents.
Order supplies and perform general maintenance in the vivarium.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in animal science and research.
Experience in animal handling and husbandry.
Skill in marking, breeding, weaning, and tissue collection.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Minimum AS degree with biology coursework or 2 years of experience working with laboratory animals preferred.
Previous experience handling laboratory rodents is preferred.

Work Environment

The position is based in a laboratory/vivarium environment with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. As this position is deemed essential, weekend and holiday work is required. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.50/hr.
