The Grain Merchandiser position involves managing strategic customer and supplier relationships, maintaining competitive advantages, and facilitating product shipment and delivery through strong sales and communication skills. Profitably originate and merchandise grain in accord with Kokomo Grain policies and procedures.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\r\n\r\n\r\n\tProactive development and coverage of existing customer and supplier accounts and development of prospective accounts.\r\n\tObtain market knowledge and insight through continuous communication with product suppliers, customers, and transportation vendors.\r\n\tImplementation of hedging and other risk management methods and techniques applied to trading positions based on profitability, market trends, and account history. \r\n\tFacilitate and schedule logistics for timely product delivery using rail and truck transportation modes. \r\n\tObtain and develop merchandising skills to provide a base for future opportunities within Kokomo Grain Co., Inc.\r\n\tDevelop, monitor and report to management on personal and location origination goals and objectives.\r\n\tMonitor customer positions utilizing Kokomo Grain accounting system.\r\n\tLearn and follow the trade rules of NGFA (National Grain and Feed Associates).\r\n\tMake farm visits to customers and prospects.
