Peterson Farms is hiring an Ag Diesel Technician Lead in Loretto, KY. In this role you will perform preventive maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a wide range of equipment that includes a fleet of semis/trailers, diesel trucks, light vehicles, construction equipment, and heavy farm equipment. We’re looking for a problem solver who takes a hands-on role in assuring the equipment is in top working order and is safe for all our drivers. The role will require good communication with the Maintenance Manager to identify equipment problems and provide prompt solutions. The job's primary focus is ensuring the smooth operation of our on-road fleet.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and coordinates a maintenance schedule that aligns with seasonal farming demands.
- Performs maintenance jobs as scheduled, providing estimates of the work required, including time and valuation of parts/materials required.
- Keeps records of all repairs, including time in the job and materials used.
- Adequately tests repairs to assure quality of work.
- Ability to identify and procure parts as needed and communicate clearly with suppliers for cost effectiveness.
- Works in both the shop and field environments (estimated 80% shop & 20% field).
- Ensures safety procedures are followed both within our maintenance shop and on any field-based repairs. Helps to create a Zero-Accident culture.
- Assists Manager in tracking inventory of parts within the maintenance shop to ensure basic materials are on hand for repairs to reduce downtime.
- Responds to emergency repairs, particularly during Spring planting and Fall harvest seasons.
- Open and eager to provide solutions at critical times in the farm operation.
- Collaborates with others to find solutions to equipment and vehicle problems.
- Supports shop operations by stepping in for the Maintenance Manager as necessary.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Driver’s license with safe driving record.
- Knowledge and understanding of diesel engines, semi-trucks, construction equipment, preventive maintenance, and general farm equipment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse teams.
- The ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
- Ability to provide clear reports and findings to management.
- 2-5 years or more of experience in a maintenance role.
- ASE or another Mechanic Certification is a plus.
- Basic computer skills to maintain accurate records and communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently without supervision but also work as part of a team.
- Open to work extended hours during peak seasons as required by the agriculture industry.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Capable of lifting materials up to 100 lbs.
- Good vision to inspect repair work.
- Must be able to physically perform maintenance tasks.
