Equine Veterinary Hospital of Northen Indiana (EVH) is hiring an Equine Veterinary Assistant to join our team in Wakarusa, IN (about 10 miles southwest of Goshen). In this role you will be providing daily care for horses, including feeding, grooming, monitoring behavior and signs of illness.

What you will be doing:
- Provide daily care for equine patients, including feeding, grooming, monitoring behavior and signs of illness
- Support veterinarians during exams, treatments, diagnostics, surgeries, and emergency care
- Handle horses safely and confidently, including young, injured, or difficult horses
- Maintain accurate medical records and assist with charting patient history
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms, exam areas, and mobile units
- Keep hospital facilities clean, sanitary, and well-stocked
- Manage phone lines, appointment scheduling, and client communication
- Offer clear, compassionate communication to clients, providing general guidance and hospital information
- Assist in equine nutrition plans and monitor patient dietary needs under veterinary guidance
This job is for you if you have:
- Strong equine experience and confidence handling horses in various situations
- Ability to halter, lead, groom, and restrain horses for exams and procedures
- Comfortable working in a barn or clinic environment, including stall cleaning
- Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, stand for long periods, and work in all weather conditions
- Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills
- Flexible and adaptable—comfortable with frequent task changes
Preferred (Not Required):
- Experience in a veterinary hospital, equine clinic, or breeding facility
- Familiarity with taking vitals, administering medications, leg wraps, or assisting with imaging
- Understanding of equine health, anatomy, nutrition, and common medical conditions
- Experience with veterinary software or recordkeeping systems
