Responsibilities
- Designing and conducting experiments for the assigned research projects.
- Monitoring, optimizing reactions, and analyzing in-process compounds under batch or continuous operation.
- Bringing in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in analytical techniques and identification of organic compounds using Q-NMR, GC, HPLC, and MS.
- Participating as an active member of the Kemin Global Research team (Big R).
- Effectively communicating work progress and findings through the writing of technical reports and presentations at project meetings, showcasing strong communication skills.
- Demonstrating a strong commitment to professional growth through continuous learning and staying updated with the current scientific literature (publications), industrial state-of-the-art (patents), and participation in scientific seminars and meetings.
- Perform literature reviews and provide written summaries that are incorporated into strategy.
- Independently develop and review SOP’s, research protocols and research methods; design safety procedures.
- Independently perform advanced data analysis and review other’s data to provide input and insight.
- Independently, collect, interpret and document research data.
- Review internal publication across Kemin.
- Provides instruction and training to interns and junior staff.
Qualifications
- Education
- Masters of Science in Chemistry/Process Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, Material Sciences and Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience
- PhD in Chemistry/Process chemistry or Chemical Engineering, Material Sciences and Engineering preferred. PhD with 0+ years of experience will be considered
- Passion for Process Development, Retrosynthesis, optimization, Scale-up, and Industrialization.
- Strong interest, hands-on experience and expertise in organic chemistry for industry-relevant reactions.
- Must be able to work independently or on a team and have the ability to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment.
- Excellent Scientific skills in experiment design and data collection, able to maintain instruments.
- Detail oriented, organized, prioritization skills and motivated by accomplishment.
- Ability to understand and perform advanced statistical analysis.
- Analytical lab skills with a strong scientific curiosity and innovative thinking.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing molecules or products tailored for biological, animal nutrition, feed additive, targeted release applications is a plus.
- Fluent in English. Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to present ideas effectively.
- Advanced computer knowledge (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.).
