Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in animal care and handling, with experience in veterinary practices. As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our patients, assisting veterinarians in various procedures, and ensuring the overall well-being of the animals in our facility. We are a privately owned practice caring for dogs and cats only. We are looking for a fun, engaged and motivated individual who enjoys working with people and the pets they love. Our technicians see their own appointments.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures
- Perform laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging, including X-rays
- Administer medications and vaccinations as prescribed
- Provide proper animal restraint and catheterization techniques
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation
- Educate pet owners on animal care, nutrition, and training
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic, adhering to aseptic techniques
- Monitor animal vital signs and behavior during treatments
- Handle dogs and other animals with care, ensuring their comfort and safety
Qualifications
- MUST BE A CERTIFIED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN TO APPLY.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology
- Familiarity with dental terminology related to animal care
- Experience in veterinary critical care or laboratory settings is a plus
- Understanding of animal husbandry practices and dog handling techniques
- Equine experience is beneficial for certain positions within our practice
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with pet owners and team members
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 38 per week
