The job scope includes:
Responsible for the maintenance and management of all aspects of collection animal health for SeaWorld Abu Dhabi including diagnosis, treatment of disease, preventative medicine programs, the animal welfare program, nutrition
As part of various programs, oversees medical care of rescued wildlife including but not limited to dugongs, birds, sea turtles, and cetaceans
Shares responsibility for the management of Animal Rescue Program with the Zoological Directors
Consults and educates the Zoological colleagues, leadership teams and occasionally the public in areas of health, welfare, and husbandry
Conducts animal health research projects and prepares the results for presentations and peer-reviewed publications
Ensures any noncompliance and safety related incidents are promptly investigated and corrective action taken as needed
Assists in the field for rescues, health assessments and possible field research with various species
Performs other duties as assigned by the leadership team
To be considered for the role, you will need to have:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree
Ability to obtain a license to practice veterinary medicine in the UAE
5 years of proven experience in a zoo, aquarium, or oceanarium organization. This may include post-doctoral training or a minimum of two years of full-time practical experience
Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Demonstrated knowledge with operating and utilizing Computed Tomography (CT)/ Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) imaging modalities and associated viewing programs
Demonstrated knowledge with professional zoo/aquarium and animal conservation communities
