Long-established, family-run show cattle operation in South Dakota, with 40+ years in the business. The program focuses on producing high-end quality show steers and heifers for 4-H, FFA, and competitive junior exhibitors across the country. Our herd utilizes elite club-calf genetics, including leading sires such as Here I Am, Fu Man Chu, No Guts No Glory, and other proven bloodlines. This is a serious, high-standard show-calf program with a strong reputation and repeat buyers.\r\n\r\nSeeking a hands-on Assistant Herdsman with experience in cattle care and day-to-day ranch operations, ideally with background or interest in show cattle / club calves. This role is very much “boots on the ground,” working directly with the cow herd, replacement heifers, and calves.\r\n\r\nThe right person takes pride in cattle, pays attention to detail, and wants to be part of a quality-minded, family-run outfit.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nKey Responsibilities:\r\n- Daily care and feeding of cows, calves, and replacement females\r\n- Monitoring herd health; identifying and treating basic health issues\r\n- Assisting with calving, tagging, processing, and weaning\r\n- Assisting with breeding program: heat detection, sorting, and handling cattle for AI/ET work\r\n- Pen and pasture checks; fencing, water, and general upkeep\r\n- Maintaining clean, organized facilities (pens, alleys, working areas, barns)\r\n- Working with show prospects: basic halter-breaking, tying, handling, and general behavior/temperament work\r\n- Operating equipment as needed (tractors, skid steer, feeders, etc.)\r\n- Helping with sale prep and general ranch projects as assigned\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nBENEFITS:\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nNice 4 Bedroom Home, Paid Vacation, Beef, Fuel\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nALL INQUIRIES ARE KEPT CONFIDENTIAL.
