We are seeking an experienced HR & Compliance Manager to lead and manage all human resources and compliance functions across Smith Fertilizer & Grain.
This hands-on leadership role is ideal for a confident professional who can balance strategic HR initiatives with direct engagement across multiple locations, fostering employee growth, safety, and regulatory compliance.

What You’ll Do
- Lead and manage all HR functions including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and policy administration.
- Oversee employee benefits, compensation programs, and HR systems with fairness, accuracy, and transparency.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on people strategy, organizational structure, and employee engagement.
- Manage compliance and safety initiatives, including DOT, OSHA, and employment law requirements, ensuring documentation and regulatory adherence.
- Conduct and coordinate employee training programs (safety, compliance, leadership, harassment prevention, etc.).
- Partner with Accounting on payroll oversight while maintaining data integrity and confidentiality.
- Act as a visible and approachable leader across all locations, engaging directly with employees to listen, guide, and support growth.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including leadership in a full-scope HR role.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, safety, and compliance (DOT/OSHA experience a plus).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; approachable, fair, and steady under pressure.
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on involvement.
- Experience in agriculture, logistics, or manufacturing environments preferred.
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) is a plus.
