We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Shellfish Harvester Crewperson to join our clam farming team on the coast of Georgia. The successful candidate will assist in the harvesting and processing of clams to ensure quality and efficiency. This role requires strong physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions, ability to learn shellfish harvesting techniques, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining sustainable farming practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Harvest clams from designated areas using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Inspect clams for quality, size, and health before processing.
- Operate and maintain harvesting equipment, including boats and washing and grading equipment
- Process and grade harvested clams, including cleaning, sorting, and bagging for shipment.
- Ensure compliance with local and federal regulations regarding shellfish harvesting and processing.
- Participate in regular maintenance of farm facilities and equipment.
- Keep accurate records of harvesting activities, including quantities and locations.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance productivity and efficiency.
- Adhere to safety protocols and best practices to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in shellfish harvesting or aquaculture is a plus.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to work in various weather conditions.- agility to swim in water up to 8 feet in depth.
- Knowledge of shellfish species and sustainable harvesting practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor work in marine environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Physical demands may include lifting heavy clam bags and ancillary equipment, bending, and standing for long periods.

Pay: $16.00 per year
