Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations and diagnose health issues in small animals, including dogs, cats, and other companion pets.
- Perform surgical procedures ranging from routine spays and neuters to emergency surgeries with precision and care.
- Administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments based on veterinary best practices.
- Utilize veterinary terminology accurately to communicate diagnoses and treatment plans clearly to pet owners.
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques, ensuring comfort and minimizing stress during examinations or procedures.
- Maintain detailed medical records following aseptic techniques and veterinary standards.
- Assist with laboratory testing, sample collection, and interpretation of results to support accurate diagnoses.
- Provide pet grooming, animal husbandry, and basic pet care advice to clients for ongoing health maintenance.
- Manage critical care situations by applying veterinary critical care experience when stabilizing injured or ill animals.
- Support animal catheterization procedures and maintain sterile environments during surgeries or treatments.
- Demonstrate knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy to inform effective treatment strategies.
- Handle animals with compassion and professionalism, including dog handling and general animal husbandry tasks.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, behavioral issues, and preventive health measures.
Skills
- Proven veterinary experience with a focus on small animals
