The Farm Technology Specialist role is pivotal in driving agricultural productivity through advanced technology adoption within the diverse landscape of UK farming. Your primary objective is to spearhead the development and adoption of Agri-Tech across various farming domains and develop the UK Agri-Tech Centre's capability to support agri-tech businesses through test, trial and demonstration activities.
Your responsibilities will encompass providing support, direction and hands-on technical expertise to propel innovation within farming systems. Collaborating closely with the Business Development and Innovation teams, you'll showcase the UK Agri-Tech Centre's capabilities and be instrumental in developing programs of work to help support the sector growth.
You'll assume the mantle of technical leadership, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery across all sectors. By fostering mutually beneficial partnerships through adept Key Account Management, particularly in new business ventures and project execution, you'll fortify the UK Agri-Tech Centre's network of members and partners.
Beyond operational duties, you'll serve as an ambassador for the UK Agri-Tech Centre, amplifying its presence and impact within the farming community, both domestically and globally. Your adept management of relationships, especially with our farm network, will be pivotal in fostering collaboration and driving innovation forward.
The role mandates a profound understanding of cutting-edge technologies applicable to agriculture, coupled with an extensive network spanning the industry. A fusion of business acumen and exceptional communication skills across various platforms is imperative to execute the UK Agri-Tech Centre's strategic vision within the farming sector effectively.
The role is offered under a fixed-term contract with the end date on 31/03/2027.

Key responsibilities
• Take the lead in developing standard operating procedures and ensuring risk assessments for the usage and deployment of technology, always ensuring adherence to safe working practices
• Lead the development of R&D capabilities in alignment with the company's strategy
• Support the Head of Farms to develop and implement the UK Agri-Tech Centre's strategy across various sectors
• Support clients in scaling up and developing products for commercialisation, aiming for trials on our commercial farm network
• Manage the UK Agri-Tech Centre's assets to develop capabilities and projects further, ensuring return on investment to all involved parties
• Provide support and direction for technology use on the UK Agri-Tech Centre's sites and manage asset utilisation
• Offer farmer-led guidance to enhance strategic capabilities across multiple sites
• Present commercially viable use cases for technology innovation to support investment
• Contribute technically to project delivery and support project managers in technical aspects
• Manage relationships between farmers, external partners, stakeholders and Agri-Tech developers
• Collaborate closely with other departments to provide technical support to generate public and private revenues from the UK Agri-Tech Centre's assets
• Assist in business development efforts, focusing on securing sector-related work and identifying business problems that the UK Agri-Tech Centre's assets can solve
• Support the technical development of staff within the business
• Foster strong relationships with other sections, project managers, and the business development team, as well as other internal teams such as marketing, communication, finance, HR and legal
• Act as the public face of the UK Agri-Tech Centre's farm activities
• Support the development of the UK Agri-Tech Centre's brand by working with the PR team to secure PR coverage for the UK Agri-Tech Centre's facilities across various media channels
• Represent the UK Agri-Tech Centre in speaking engagements, conferences and events nationally and internationally
• Collaborate with the marketing and business development teams to raise and maintain the profile of the UK Agri-Tech Centre's capabilities
• Utilise an extensive industry network for the benefit of the business
Farm Network:
• Manage communication, project activity, and knowledge exchange for the wider Farm Network
• Establish links between the Farm Network and other UK Agri-Tech Centre activities
• Collaborate with members and partners to utilise the Farm Network for testing and demonstrating new technologies
• Evaluate the membership of the network to ensure representation across sectors and geography, helping to position the UK Agri-Tech Centre for future demands
What we are looking for
• Demonstrate success in upholding safe working practices within a farm environment
• Education at HNC/HND/Degree level in agriculture or relevant fields
• Proactive and effective technical communicator
• Proficiency in project and budget management
• Exceptional communication skills across all mediums, both written and verbal
• Practical and research-based farming experience
• Proficiency in agricultural technology and its implementation
• Comprehensive understanding of various farming sectors
• Track record of driving product innovation and development
• Ability to cultivate and maintain positive customer and public relations
• Competence in utilising the MS Office suite and other business-related software
• Strong organisational skills
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent time management abilities
• Collaborative team player mindset
• Willingness to travel within the UK with occasional overnight stays
• Possession of a full driving license with the right to drive in the UK
