New graduates are welcome to apply but may be placed in a different area of the hospital to start their training. We are seeking a highly skilled Internal Medicine Anesthesia Technician to join our Internal Medicine department. Applicants must bring strong anesthesia experience, exceptional communication skills, and proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced specialty setting.

This position is suited to a technician with proven experience in specialty medicine who excels in teamwork, efficiency, and adaptability. On-call shifts are required once training is complete.

Key Responsibilities:Client Communication & Support:
- Lead client communication during consults, updates, and discharge conversations
- Collect detailed patient histories and relay information accurately to the Internist
- Provide compassionate, thorough education about procedures, post-care, and diagnostics
Patient Care & Diagnostics:
- Conduct TPRs and full patient assessments
- Perform IV catheterization and administer IV fluids
- Collect venous and arterial blood samples
- Complete in-house diagnostics (CBC, chemistry, UA, cytology, blood gas)
- Prepare and submit external lab samples
- Maintain procedure areas, ensuring cleanliness, sterility, and equipment readiness
- Assist VAs and coordinate patient work-ups efficiently
Anesthesia & Sedation:
- Administer and monitor sedation/anesthesia for Internal Medicine procedures
- Perform endotracheal intubation and manage patient airways
- Proficient in ECG, pulse oximetry, capnography, doppler/oscillometric BP, and temperature monitoring
- Execute CRIs, multimodal anesthesia, TIVA, and anesthetic induction protocols
- Assist with emergent or urgent airway management and stabilization
- Perform advanced anesthetic skills, including (training provided):
Vasopressor use
Arterial catheter placement
Invasive blood pressure monitoring
Internal Medicine Procedures Supported:Endoscopy & Minimally Invasive Procedures:
- Gastroscopy (upper GI)
- Colonoscopy (lower GI)
- Bronchoscopy
- Rhinoscopy
- Cystoscopy (female: rigid; male: flexible)
- Endoscopic foreign body retrieval
- Endoscopy-assisted biopsy acquisition
- Feeding tube placement (PEG/PEJ)
Advanced Imaging & Fluoroscopy:
- CT and MRI sedation/anesthesia
- Fluoroscopy-guided swallow studies
- Tracheal and airway evaluations
- Urethral patency assessment
Additional Internal Medicine Diagnostics:
- Thoracocentesis & abdominocentesis
- Bone marrow aspirates/biopsies
- Ultrasound-assisted FNA/biopsy with sedation
- Joint taps and synovial fluid sampling
- Endocrine diagnostic testing (ACTH stim, bile acids, glucose curves, etc.)
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 1+ years of anesthesia experience in a specialty or referral veterinary hospital
- Minimum 2+ years performing anesthesia monitoring and induction techniques
- Graduate of an accredited Veterinary Technician program
- Strong, confident client communication skills
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management abilities
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based, fast-paced specialty environment
- Flexible schedule with availability for on-call responsibilities after training

- Handle, restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery
- Assist veterinarian before, during and after surgery
- Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under direction of veterinarian

- Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals
