Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced small animal emergency veterinarian to join a dedicated out-of-hours team providing high-level inpatient and emergency care. This role is suited to a confident clinician who enjoys autonomous overnight work while remaining supported by a consistent nursing team and strong clinical infrastructure. The position is offered on a permanent, part-time basis with a clearly defined rota designed to support recovery time between working blocks.
The role focuses on the management of emergency presentations and ongoing inpatient care during overnight periods, with access to extensive diagnostic and treatment capabilities. A collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach underpins clinical decision-making, allowing emergency clinicians to deliver thorough and thoughtful care while drawing on the wider expertise available within the hospital team.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing emergency consultations and stabilisation during overnight periods
- Managing and reviewing inpatients with appropriate treatment plans
- Making sound clinical decisions during sole-charge emergency work
- Working closely with the dedicated overnight nursing team
- Ensuring clear and accurate clinical records for continuity of care
Qualifications Needed:
- RCVS-eligible veterinary qualification with experience in emergency or out-of-hours work
- Confidence handling urgent medical and surgical presentations independently
- Strong problem-solving skills under time-sensitive conditions
- Ability to work effectively within a rotating emergency rota
- Commitment to maintaining high clinical and welfare standards
