Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Small Animal Associate Veterinarian to join a close-knit, privately owned clinic. This role is well suited to a veterinarian with a minimum of two years’ experience who is confident working independently while still valuing consistent clinical support. The position offers a calm, quality-focused working environment where patient care, client relationships, and thoughtful medicine are prioritised over volume.
The role involves a predominantly small animal caseload, with occasional exposure to rabbits and other small exotics, although prior exotic experience is not required. Consultations are scheduled at a comfortable pace, typically between 20 and 30 minutes, allowing time for thorough assessments and clear communication with clients. The clinic operates on a weekday-only schedule, providing an excellent work–life balance away from city pressures while remaining well connected to surrounding regions.
In this position, your responsibilities will include:
- Managing routine and complex small animal medical cases with confidence
- Working in a supported sole-charge capacity for part of the working week
- Performing general practice surgery and diagnostics to a high standard
- Delivering compassionate, low-stress patient care aligned with fear-free principles
- Collaborating closely with nursing support to ensure efficient consultations
Package:
- Full-time weekday-only position with no weekends or out-of-hours work
- Consult nurse support available throughout the day
- Fear-free focused practice culture with team-wide training completed
- Well-equipped clinical environment with modern systems and workflows
- Balanced caseload with extended consultation times
- Supportive management structure with ongoing clinical availability
- Opportunity to work within a stable, community-based practice
- Competitive remuneration reflective of experience and sole-charge confidence
