Battle Creek Ranch is a
6,000-acre, high-altitude cattle and hay ranch in Parshall, Colorado, sitting at about
8,000 feet elevation, an hour north of Breckenridge. It’s a unique operation focused on converting sagebrush to productive grass, using
rotational and intensive grazing, and managing water intentionally to support both cattle and forage production.
We are seeking an
Irrigation & Forage Manager to work closely with the Cattle Operations Manager in a highly
hands -
on role. This position oversees
irrigation, hay and forage production, and soil health, with occasional livestock work as needed. A strong farm or ranch experience is essential, and irrigation or forage knowledge is a significant plus. Above all, we're looking for someone with the right attitude, work ethic, and a desire to build a long - term future on the ranch.

Job Responsibilities:
- Monitor soil health and grasses, along with implementing tools to improve quality
- Maintain irrigation and farm equipment to keep everything in top working condition
- Support cattle operations and overall cattle care when needed
- Oversee and manage water resources for crop production in full compliance with Colorado water law; must understand or learn these requirements
Job Qualifications:
- Experience in irrigation, agronomy, soil health, and/or hay and forage production
- Basic farm equipment maintenance
- Background or previous experience in a farm or ranch setting
- Mechanical aptitude and an interest in water resource management
- Ability to work independently and coordinate with the Cattle Operations Manager on a day-to-day basis
- A bachelor's degree is a plus
- Willingness to relocate to Colorado’s high country
