Laboratory Technician III - Decatur, IL
Job Summary
Performs sample analysis, documentation and data entry in a high-volume process-control laboratory, while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and quality programs.
Essential Job Functions
- Analyzes production and finished product samples to determine product quality and safety
- Documents analytical results and lab activities including but not limited to food safety, product quality, housekeeping and hazardous waste generation
- Reviews in-process and finished product analytical data for completion, accuracy and quality/food safety implications
- Communicates interdepartmentally, regarding lab activities, analytical data, product quality and food safety
- Enters analytical data into Lab Information Management System
- Assists with daily housekeeping duties and improvements
- Performs basic instrument maintenance and repair
- Shows active leadership by being involved in one of the following: Lead Technician group, Leader in PE initiatives for the Lab
- Plays an role as an active leader in the lab by peer development to align with self-directed work force
- Reports product quality or food safety issues to QA
- Understands their role in food safety and quality systems, actively participates in food safety efforts and ensures all activities conform to good manufacturing practices.
Minimum Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- Basic math skills
- Basic computer skills
Education/Training
- High school diploma; Bachelor’s degree in science related field is preferred
- Continuing education classes, certificate or degree in a science related field or at least one year of experience in a science related field
