Job Responsibilities:
Patient Care and Clinical Support:
- Provide compassionate, hands-on patient care.
- Assist veterinarians with exams, surgeries, dentistry, and nursing.
- Prepare patients for surgery and support anesthesia and recovery.
- Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and vaccines.
- Perform lab tests including blood work, urinalysis, and cytology.
- Monitor and record patient health and behavior; report changes to the DVM.
Technical and Medical Tasks:
- Perform IV catheter placement, blood collection, injections, and intubation.
- Conduct dental scaling, polishing, and take full-body and dental radiographs.
- Lead technician appointments for education, minor procedures, and follow-ups.
- Fill prescriptions and prepare medications as directed.
Client Communication and Administrative Support:
- Deliver excellent customer service and client education.
- Manage calls, emails, voicemails, and text communications.
- Handle client invoicing, billing, and scheduling.
- Triage patients and follow up on ongoing cases.
- Maintain accurate, confidential patient and client records.
Clinic Maintenance and Organization:
- Stock supplies in all clinical and exam areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilize equipment.
- Support reception and general clinic operations as needed.
Experience, skills and Qualifications:
- Completion of a two- or three-year Veterinary Technology diploma from a CVMA/OAVT‑accredited college.
- Minimum 2 years experience as an Veterinary Technician.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Qualified as a Registered Veterinary Technician (Preferred).
- Experience using communication tools and technology, experience with IDEXX Cornerstone software and other client management tools is an asset.
