The Staff Architect Applications leads enterprise data architecture to support business strategy and data-driven outcomes. This role bridges raw data and business insight by designing scalable, secure, and high-performing data platforms that enable analytics, applications, and operational decision-making. The Staff Architect documents current-state data landscapes, defines future-state architecture, and partners with IT and business leaders to deliver trusted, business-aligned data solutions.
The Staff Architect serves as the design authority for data architecture, governance, and analytical platforms. Responsibilities include defining enterprise data architecture standards, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements, developing migration and modernization roadmaps, and advising application and data teams on data, integration, and platform design. This role owns medallion-layered data architecture design, master and reference data strategy, and data governance practices to ensure consistent, high-quality, and reliable data assets.
The Staff Architect designs and evolves data platforms, modernizes legacy data solutions, and establishes modeling, integration, and semantic layer standards. They lead architecture and design reviews, guide engineering teams, and ensure scalability, performance, reliability, and security across data systems. The role drives cloud and platform modernization, guides data technology selection, and promotes reuse, standardization, and cost efficiency.
This role requires deep expertise in data architecture and data engineering practices, including data modeling, ETL/ELT, orchestration, monitoring, and large-scale data processing. Strong experience with SQL, query optimization, and modern data platforms is required, along with proficiency in version control systems and experience across database and cloud platforms.
Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, with 10+ years of IT experience (or 8+ years with an advanced degree) and at least 8+ years of experience in data, analytics, or application development. Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and collaboration skills are essential, with the ability to communicate data strategies and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Define and own the enterprise data architecture and roadmap

- Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements
- Guide technology selection for data platforms and tools
- Enable Data-as-a-Service and self-service analytics models
- Promote reuse, standardization, and cost efficiency
- Document architecture, standards, and decision records
- Communicate strategy to business and technical stakeholders
