About the Role:
Flinders University is seeking an outstanding academic leader to advance excellence in sustainable agriculture through high-impact research, innovative teaching and meaningful engagement with industry and the community.
Appointed as an Associate Professor or Professor, you will provide academic leadership in the broad area of sustainable agriculture, aligned to Flinders University's existing research strengths, and play a key role in shaping the future of sustainability in farming.
The position will provide leadership across:
- Research excellence, including leading high-impact research programs and attracting competitive external research funding
- Outstanding teaching and curriculum leadership, using contemporary, innovative and flexible pedagogies
- Supervision and mentorship, including mentoring Early Career and Mid-Career Researchers and supervising honours and higher degree by research students
- Industry and community engagement, building strategic partnerships that deliver real-world impact
- Academic leadership and service, contributing to College and University strategy, governance, accreditation and quality assurance
About You:
You are a recognised academic leader with a strong record of research excellence and educational leadership in sustainable agriculture or a closely related discipline. You are committed to innovation in teaching, collaboration in research, and building capability in others. Your expertise may align with areas such as soil science, biotechnology, crop improvement, vertical farming, integrated farming systems, agrivoltaics, precision agriculture, biosecurity, agroecology, or related disciplines aligned to Flinders University research strengths.
Depending on your career stage, you will bring:
- A PhD or equivalent qualification in sustainable agriculture or a related discipline.
- A distinguished research profile, evidenced by sustained high-quality publications and success in attracting competitive external research funding
- Demonstrated excellence and leadership in tertiary teaching, including curriculum development, accreditation and innovative delivery approaches.
- A strong record of supervising honours and research higher degree students to completion.
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring Early Career and Mid-Career Researchers.
- A proven ability to establish and lead national and international research collaborations.
